When I first came to ACLC in eighth grade, It was traumatizing to see everyone acting all normal like there was no school in the center, but I got used to it when I tried to act all cool and trying to make some friends. As time passed by, ACLC had allowed me to understand the meaning of learning by yourself. It allowed me to develop way to work on homework while there is time when I had no classes, socialize with other learners, and "become a leader" like what our school says. I have acquired many skills and experiences in ACLC that has not been given from any other school especially when we're unique as a charter school.

 

Personal Qualities, Work Habits, and Attitudes

          ACLC has helped me improve my personal qualities and attitude. Before I came to ACLC, I had never done any types of projects. But since ACLC is a school who is project-based, I had been given to do many projects with others. It had become a work habit when I started to work with others and had begun to become very social, productive and helpful to any projects. I have been very thoughtful, responsible, and creative for some of the projects I had been given.

To increase my work habits, ACLC had created a way by giving free classes in order for us learners to develop a way to do homework and projects than to work on them afterschool to night time. I have been using free-time in school to finish all kinds of homework that had been due for the day before its due. It also has a benefit in having free time to even go out and take a college class to keep myself productive and help improve my work habits. I believe that ACLC had helped me get used to get used to collaboration with projects with others and communication skills.

 

New Basics

         When I first arrive to ACLC, it had changed my ways of earning my education.  There were many differences from going to a public school than to a charter school because of the periods and the ways that I have been taught. I find ACLC more efficient because in college, people would expect that its not all 6 period classes but instead it's classes on certain times. In public schools, I wasn't able to chat with every teacher in every class to have a better understand in the class while in ACLC, when I have free class, I can walk in and chat witht he facilitators for help when they have a free class. This helps build a better bond witht he learners and the facilitators to allow us learners to learn easily and more comfortable with the facilitators. It is also nice that ACLC gives college classes to allow us to explore the subjects the college gives. So ACLC allows us to explore may types of majors that college offers for us learners.

 

Thinking and Reasoning Skills

         ACLC is a place where I create my thinking and reasoning skills. Where I analyze the paper in any types of class or even annotating in our English class. Mainly the english class had given me many ways to use many types of perspective in writing and reading. I learned ways to read critically and ways to help us learn the passage in a better meaning. And annotations had helped me by analyzing every single detail by giving a little thought to it. By doing so, I get to collect data and information about what we are doing in the class. I also used this in other classes where I had a better meaning in science especially where we had to create data and follow every single instruction in order for it to work. The classes in ACLC had improve my thinking and reasoning skills by doing projects, homework and the classes we are currently taking.

 

Interpersonal Abilities

          ACLC was very different from publics schools by having their own culture and traditions in the school. ACLC had been giving know everyone in the community. To become a leader with interpersonal abilities, I had started to develop ways to give out new ideas for homework, ideas, and hypothesis of what things might happen. I even learned how to become a leader in a summer school I went to. I had tutored and took care of kids younger than me. I also learned ways to interact with the young ones. It was difficult because they have a very different mindset since there is a massive age gap between us two. 

 

Technology

          ACLC is also a place full of technology uses. Technology is basically everywhere in our daily life and it would be used massively in our generation and future. ACLC has given advance technology to work on homework and projects. As a community, we are very advance compared to the others where others are given to used the technology in the library and or in their own house. This technology is mainly used in our advantages in our academics for printing essays and was able to create slideshows as projects. Using technology is a great way to explore new ways of learning and preparing for our future since technology will be use for the future.
